Courtesy call by American Embassy to Amcham
The recently arrived Chief of Mission of the American Embassy Mrs. Valerie Belon paid a courtesy call on the Board of the American Chamber of Commerce of Suriname at its office in Wyndham Garden Hotel on Friday November 29, 2013 at 10.00 a.m.
This was a great opportunity for Mrs. Belon and AMCHAM Board members to discuss several topics. Mrs. Belon was intrigued to learn about AMCHAM’S counterpart in Trinidad which has its own office building, dynamic staff and large, active membership.
The possibility of English training for AMCHAM Members was also discussed with the emphasis on Business English. This would assist members and give them confidence when dealing with English speaking persons- both here and overseas.
Another important topic of discussion was the organizing of breakfast meetings since that was a huge draw in the past. The challenge is to find good speakers who can discuss interesting topics with the members.
Before the meeting ended at 11.30, Mrs. Belon reiterated her desire to see AMCHAM succeed and that the US Embassy considers itself AMCHAM’S partner.
